Just when you think you've seen and heard it all, a hungry diner gets arrested in Mexico for stealing a meal and by claiming God would pay for it.

On the 22nd of July, Delila Hernandez rode her bicycle down to the Sonic Drive-in on El Paseo Road, to grab a bite to eat. She ordered her meal and waited patiently while it was prepared. When the cashier asked her to pay, she gave a response that no one expected, perhaps not even the man upstairs.

When expected to pay her bill, Delila responded with a confident "this one's on God."

Confused, the server told the 30-year-old "that's not how this works". However, Ms. Hernandez proceeded to threaten him and act out. The sever was afraid she may hurt him and in a panic, he gave her the meal.

Delila took the food and ran.

The Sonic server then waited until she was gone so he could call the police. The cops later found Delila sitting in a nearby park eating her stolen food from Sonic. They asked her if she had paid for that meal.

According to court documents, Delila told the police that she knew what she had done was wrong and that she even hesitated to eat the meal. However, she said that she couldn't resist because she was "starving".

Delila was then arrested and charged with a felony robbery. Luckily for her, there is a good chance this charge may be reduced.

Roxanne Garcia-McElmell, public information officer for the Third District Attorney's Office, said Delila will probably get charged with a petty misdemeanor of under $250 in the end, and be made to pay the restaurant back. She might also receive a fine of a small amount or there is the possibility that the chargers will be dropped completely.
