In what we consider to be the rarest of crossovers, a new golf-based comedy series starring Will Ferrell is making its way to the small screen. The currently untitled project is being produced by the comedian himself, together with Jessica Elbaum, under their company Gloria Sanchez Productions (Dead to Me). Teaming up with Rian Johnson and Ram Bergman's T-Street Production, the funny power behind this series is somewhat unprecedented. Here's what we know so far.
Details of this upcoming series have been majorly kept under wraps. That being said, Deadline was able to report that Ferrell will star as "a professional golfer who becomes the face of a controversial new league competing with the PGA." According to the publication, the tone is expected to follow in the direction of Ferrell's movie Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobb. The comedian is also no stranger to the sports comedy genre, having appeared in Blades of Glory and Semi-Pro. Although the story is fictional on the whole, it is expected to somewhat resemble the noteworthy startup of LIV Golf.
Despite establishing his comedic career on Saturday Night Live, Will Ferrell has since strayed from television, mostly appearing in legendary comedy movies. His last small screen project was Apple TV+'s comedy-drama The Shrink Next Door, which had him acting opposite fellow funny guy Paul Rudd. Unsurprisingly, Ferrell is no stranger to the golfing sport, having hosted The Will Powered Golf Classic fundraiser for the past twenty years. Considering his knowledge of the sport and the art of comedy, we couldn't be more excited to see what he has in store for us!

While we patiently await further updates on the series' premiere and casting, we'll be getting our Will Ferrell fix by watching the upcoming movie Barbie's World. The Greta Gerwig movie starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as Barbie and Ken has everyone buzzing, and the Elf star is set to appear in the film at the Mattel CEO. Fans can also catch him and Reece Witherspoon in Amazon's wedding comedy You're Cordially Invited. That's our weekend sorted!
