Here's something you probably never thought you'd hear: Dave Grohl just penned his 10-year-old drumming competitor an epic theme song. Yep, you read that right, and you're probably as confused as we were. Hang on as we break down the Foo Fighters frontman and his pint-sized superfan's hilarious online battle for you...
It all started when 10-year-old, Nandi Bushell, took to Twitter to share her lifelong dream: to jam out with Dave Grohl in the form of an epic rock battle. Of course, we've all had our fair share of celebrity fantasies, though, for most of us, we'll never actually see them come to life (sorry, guys).
As for Nandi? Not only did the aspiring musician's clip go viral, but it actually caught the eyes of her superstar idol.
My dream is to one day jam with Dave Grohl, @taylorhawkins and all the @foofighters! Mr Grohl I would love to have a drum battle with you! I LOVE Everlong it’s really hard to play as it’s so fast but so much FUN! #foofighters pic.twitter.com/Pmdhvl57uu— Nandi Bushell (@Nandi_Bushell) August 17, 2020
That in and of itself would be impressive enough, wouldn't it? Only the story doesn't end there: the rock legend not only challenged Nandi back, but after several back-and-forth posts, ultimately crowned her the winner. “You got me,” as he put it.
Of course, winning a drum-off against one of the most iconic rockstars would be a dream come true for most. As for Nandi? Grohl wasn't done just yet. On September 14th, the Nirvana legend took to the Twitter world with Nandi's very own salute. Why? “Every superhero needs a theme song,” of course.
“Nandi, the No. 1 supergirl, Nandi, the best drummer in the world," Grohl began. "Nandi, always right on time, Nandi, hero wunderkind. She’s got the power, got the sound, Nandi on the drums makes the world go ‘round.”
How did the guest of honor react to her very own tribute? Well, exactly how you'd expect a 10-year-old fan to react: “I can't believe Mr. Grohl wrote a song about me!?! ... I think its the best song EVER, in the WORLD, EVER!!!" Bushell gushed. "Thank you so much, Dave... I accept your next challenge!"
Well, there you have it, folks. Drumroll, please, for this iconic friendship; And as for their online face-off? I'd stay tuned, it looks like they're far from done...
