Adam Sandler is going green (and animated) for his next movie. Netflix has released the teaser trailer for the upcoming musical comedy. Here's everything to know.
The coming-of-age film centers around a jaded 74-year-old lizard named Leo, voiced by Sandler. He has been living as a class pet in Florida for decades and knows nothing else. His life has been stuck in a terrarium shared with a turtled, voiced by Bill Burr. However, when he finds out that he only has one year left to live, Leo decides that he's going to escape so he can at last experience life. It will be his last chance to do so, but things don't go as planned, and he finds himself tangled in the students' problems when a mean substitute teacher arrives in the classroom. Sandler uses a gruff voice for the aging Lizard. He says in the clip released, "I don't know, I got a feeling this year is going to be different – something big is going to happen." How right he turns out to be.
This isn't the first time that Sandler has ventured into the world of animation. He has also voiced the role of Conde Dracula in the animated film series Hotel Transylvania and voiced multiple roles in 8 Crazy Nights. Sandler isn't the only member of his family embarking on this grand adventure. His wife, Jackie, and their two daughters, Sadie and Sunny, will also star in the film. Talk about a family affair! The Sandler family will also be joined by Cecily Strong, Jason Alexander, Rob Schneider, Jo Koy, Heidi Gardner, and more in the cast. Based on all these different names, this film is bound to be hilarious. Not only is he starring in the movie, but Sandler also wrote the screenplay along with Robert Smigel and Paul Sado. Smigel co-directed the film with Robert Marianetti and David Wachtenheim.
