We've got some good news and some bad news. The bad news? One of SNL's lead writers is saying goodbye to the hit series. The good news? Instead, she'll be focusing on penning a different one. From the plot to the release date, here's what we know about Anna Drezen's upcoming venture.

On Thursday, December 23, the SNL head writer took to Instagram to first break the big news: "Bye SNL!" Drezen revealed, alongside a series of nostalgic photos from her time on the big stage. "I am leaving the show to focus on my show at Freeform. Was going to post a joke but I don't do those anymore."

Nonetheless, the famed screenwriter has got nothing but love for her time in New York. "I learned a lot. Got to meet a lot of animals and people. There is nowhere like it," she gushed of her 5 1/2 years working with the Saturday Night Live team. Safe to say, her time penning the hit-series will never be forgotten. And it's only up from here...

As Deadline further explained, Drezen will be shifting her focus into her upcoming series Praise Petey. And we're already expecting big things here. For starters, the Freeform animated comedy will be featuring lots of familiar faces, including Schitt's Creek's Annie Murphy. As for what to expect, exactly? According to the platform, the show will follow "Petey:" a New York City it-girl (played by Murphy, of course) whose seemingly perfect life suddenly takes a sharp turn, leaving her to start from scratch.

"As luck would have it, a mysterious gift from her father gives her a new lease on life: she’s going to lean into modernizing his small-town cult," Deadline added. Safe to say, if the upcoming adventure is like anything Drezen has ever penned before? We're in for a real treat here. Until then, be sure to check out these other comedy gems, now streaming on Netflix.

And, of course, don't forget to stay tuned for further updates.
