The much-anticipated trailer for Sebastián Silva's deliciously dark meta-comedy, Rotting in the Sun, has finally seen the light of day, and it's as chaotic and intriguing as a spilled box of puzzle pieces. Having made its grand debut at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, the trailer promises an unruly rendezvous between Silva and actor Jordan Firstman, both playing themselves, because why not?

The film distribution giant, MUBI, has swooped in and bagged the North American distribution rights like a hawk spotting its prey. So, mark your calendars folks! This cinematic gem will make a limited appearance in theaters on September 8 before it goes digital. From September 15, you can stream it from the comfort of your couch in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Latin America, Benelux, Italy, and Spain.

Now, what's all the fuss about Rotting in the Sun? This film is a satirical spitball aimed at the film industry and our narcissistic society. Picture this: a down-in-the-dumps director, Sebastián Silva, runs into the lively Instagram influencer, Jordan Firstman, in a Mexican gay beach town. Sebastián hesitantly agrees to collaborate on a project. But when Jordan returns to Mexico City, Sebastián has vanished into thin air, leaving Jordan to embark on a wild-goose chase that’s as unpredictable as a game of pin the tail on the donkey. Penned and directed by Silva himself, Rotting in the Sun is a bold, darkly humorous meta-comedy. Silva, a Chilean filmmaker, previously won hearts with his acclaimed directorial ventures The Maid and Crystal Fairy & The Magical Cactus. The film also stars Robert Keller, Catalina Saavedra, Gerard Sierra, Vitter Leija, and Juan Andrés Silva, alongside Silva and Firstman.

Behind the scenes, the film boasts an impressive line-up of executive producers including Adam Donald, Ant Gentile, Adrián Geyer, Alex Hughes, Eugene Kotlyarenko, Riccardo Maddalosso, Patricia Sanchez, and Gabriel Stavenhagen, with Jacob Wasserman calling the shots as the producer. So, here we have it - the long-awaited trailer for Sebastián Silva's audaciously dark meta-comedy, Rotting in the Sun, has finally burst onto the scene. Buckle up - this ride promises to be a hoot!
