Another Hollywood A-lister has been added to the upcoming animated comedy, Garfield! Samuel L. Originally released in June of 1978, the beloved Garfield comic strip has become a household staple. Whether you actively collected the comic books growing up or casually flipped through them while drinking coffee, you know who Garfield the cat is! Created by cartoonist Jim Davis, Garfield follows the hilariously lazy and grumpy big orange cat and his relationships with his owner, Jon Arbuckle, and fellow pet companion, Odie.

Guardians of the Galaxy actor Chris Pratt is voicing the lasagna enthusiast, anti-Mondays, and napping influencer cat. This week, Samuel L. Jackson was added to voice a never before seen character, Garfield's father, Vic. It is unclear what Vic's role will play in the movie, as the details are being kept on the down low for now. The legendary Samuel L. Jackson is widely-renowned for his versatile work in Hollywood over the last few decades, so we can only imagine his sultry and unique voice as perfect for the role of Vic. The celebrated actor is most famously known for his action-packed, hard-core roles in Hollywood classics, such as The Hitman's Bodyguard, Django, and the many many Marvel classics. Safe to say, we're pumped to see him take on the papa cat role!

Bill Murray previously portrayed the title character in the last two on-screen adaptations, Garfield: The Movie in 2004 and Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties in 2006, and now Pratt is taking on the responsibility! The fill will be written by screenwriter David Reynolds (Finding Nemo) and directed by Mark Dindal (Chicken Little). With this promising team of Hollywood geniuses, we're beyond excited to see what Garfield is getting himself into this time. However, there are no updates on when the film will be released. Until then, stay tuned for more details as we get them!
