We love a good father and son moment. So when the news dropped that Netflix signed off on Rob Lowe and his son, John Owen Lowe's relatable comedy, Unstable, we were ecstatic, to say the least. So, let's look at what we know about the upcoming series thus far.
The Lowe's have dominated social media with their hilarious father-and-son relationship, so naturally, we're curious if their on-screen chemistry will be as hilarious and natural as what we see on the gram. Said to be inspired by the father-and-son duo themselves, the show will explore the relationship between an introverted young man who works for his eccentric and loud father at an innovative biotech research company. Joining forces with Santa Clarita Diet creator Victor Fresco as producer and possibly the head writer, the Lowes will also also be attached as producers; no director has joined the project quite yet. Netflix's Head of Comedy, Tracy Pakosta, shared her excitement about the project saying "We are very excited to be working with Victor, Rob, and John Owen. The three of them – and their wildly funny, smart sensibilities – are a perfect fit for our growing slate of scripted comedies." Sounds like the ultimate dream team.
As for the Lowe's, this isn't the first time the dynamic duo has hit the small screen together. The two recently starred in the 2019 film Holiday in the Wild and appeared together on the A&E show, The Lowe Files. The younger Lowe, too, scored a reoccurring spot alongside his father in the comedy, The Grinder, which ran for one season in 2015. You can catch Rob Lowe starring in the latest season of the 9-1-1 spinoff 9-1-1: Lone Star, where his 27-year-old son is currently a writer. From Instagram to the small screen, these two are running the industry and are quite literally everywhere. That's what we like to see!
