She’s funny, she’s relatable, and now, she’s officially giving back to the community, with the help of her latest scholarship program. And just when we thought we couldn’t love Rebel Wilson any more. So, what exactly does the charitable comedian have in store for the rest of us this time around?
Aside from a whole lot of laughs (an obvious, at this point), the famous funny lady has just blessed our feeds with some pretty exciting news. Yep, something tells us you're going to want to hear this - especially if you're over 18 and consider comedy writing to be your calling.
"Go to @atyp_theatre for more details," the Pitch Perfect star revealed on the 'gram on Wednesday, December 16. As for what those mysterious details regarded, exactly? "Female identifying comedy writers aged 18-26, this is the opportunity for you!" the Instagram page teased. That's right, if you're a woman with a gift for making people laugh, Rebel Wilson wants to help.
Titled, the 2021 Rebel Wilson Comedy Commission, the star has officially founded a scholarship program at the Australian Theatre for Young People, designed for folks that fit that mold. But don't think that's all. Winners of the coveted slots will land not only a $15,000 playwriting commission, but also the chance to meet Rebel Wilson herself.
Are you freaking out as much as we are? From partying college student to philanthropist, the Pitch Perfect beauty has clearly come a long way from her days at Barden University - and we can't get enough of it. How does she see it? "Expressing yourself and expressing positive messages through the creative arts is so important," as Wilson explained.
We couldn’t have said it better ourselves, folks. Well, what are you waiting for? If the thought of coming face to face with Fat Amy herself sounds at all appealing to you (which of course it does, doesn’t it?) go put your writing skills to the test, and who knows? Maybe we’ll catch your penned adventure on our screens one day…
