Whether you know and love her as Karen in The Office or Anne Perkins in Parks and Recreation, you'll know that Rashida Jones is a comedic force. With her expert comedic timing and on-point facial expressions, she knows how to get the laughs. With this in mind, it is no surprise that a series produced by the comedian would be in high demand from streaming services, who all wish to own the rights. Just last week, it was announced that her latest project, a TV adaptation of the novel, The Other Black Girl, had been picked up by Hulu. Here's what we know so far...

The series, which will also be titled The Other Black Girl, will loosely follow the narrative of the book by Zakiya Dalila Harris. As reported by Variety, the show will tell the story of Nella, an editorial assistant who is fed up with being the sole Black woman in her office. When she learns that Hazel will be joining the team, she is excited to have her first Black coworker. However, as soon as Hazel becomes the office 'it girl,' Nella senses that something suspicious is going on behind the scenes.

The Hulu series will be produced by Danielle Henderson, Rashida Jones, Tara Duncan, Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey, Adam Fishbach, and Zakiya Dalila Harris. Henderson will also serve as the showrunner, while Harris and Jones are responsible for writing the pilot script. This project is part of the exciting deal signed between Duncan and Hulu in 2020.

The executive producers are all joining this series with glowing resumes. Henderson wrote on shows such as The Harper House on Paramount+, Dare Me on USA Network, and Maniac on Netflix. Of course, she was also famously behind the Feminist Ryan Gosling blog and book. Jones also has more than just a stellar acting record behind her. She has been flexing her producing muscles, working on Claws at TNT and Kevin Can F*** Himself on AMC. She also produced and starred in #BlackAF on Netflix. Stay tuned for updates on the release date, casting news, and more!
