What a big weekend for Pete Davidson! The King of Staten Island is set to star in a new comedy series inspired by his life - shortly after he and his girlfriend, Kim Kardashian, became Instagram official. So, which one is bigger? Just kidding! Both are breaking news, but Davidson starring in an upcoming series based on his life is major for us all. So, what do we know so far about his upcoming endeavor?
The series, tentatively titled, Bupkis, will not only star Pete Davidson, but he will also serve as a writer for the upcoming sitcom. Co-writing with Davidson is friend and frequent co-collaborator Dave Sirus and Judah Miller, who produced Davidson's last movie in 2020, The King of Staten Island, which also starred Davidson and drew from his personal experiences. The project is currently being navigated under the brilliant SNL creator Lorne Michael's Broadway Video and Universal Television while midst-finalizing deals for an official streaming home. Regardless of who wins the streaming war, we cannot wait to watch the Saturday Night Live comedian do his thing.
The upcoming series, Bupkis is described as a "raw, unflinching, fictionalized version of Pete Davidson's real life. It will include a mixture of grounded storytelling with absurd elements depicting an unfiltered view through Pete's eyes," according to Deadline. "The show, which has been compared to Larry David's Curb Your Enthusiasm, is expected to reflect Davidson's real-life persona with an unapologetically unfiltered, R-rated storytelling." It sounds just like the television series we all need, so sign us up! Fans everywhere are thrilled to hear the comedian will be coming back to their home screens after taking a hiatus from SNL to film his latest horror thriller, The Home. Upon the announcement of the series, Instagram users gushed, "Lorne is awesome! Pete is funny! this will be awesome! Awesome! Lol." as well as "Love to hear more of his stand-up comedy."
