What's better than a brand new Netflix stand-up gig? A whole whack of them! And our comedy prayers have finally been answered - so get ready because Netflix Is a Joke: The Festival is coming our way!
Netflix first started teasing the festival earlier this week on its multiple Instagram pages and finally dropped the deets on December 6th to millions of eager comedy lovers. The laugh fest will take place in the spring of 2022 from April 29th to May 8th. And over the week-plus period, they've managed to cram in over 100 live stand-up shows taking place at over 25 venues in Los Angeles! From the Greek Theatre to Dodger Stadium and the Laugh Factory, some of the biggest names in comedy will be bringing the house down at some world-class venues.
So who exactly will be featured in this iconic festival? Well, @netflixisajoke was kind enough to break down a number of the heavy-hitting appearances. Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias will be headlining at the Dodger Stadium, which has a max capacity of 56,000 people! And over at Crypto.com Area, Kevin Hart is set to send the audience home in stitches from laughter. Other big names include John Mulaney, Bill Burr, and Iliza Shlesinger! But it won't just be stand-up appearances during the festival, they've also slotted in some can't-miss panels as well.
Over at the Hollywood Palladium, Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, and Amy Schumer will be celebrating comedy legacies at an event titled 'The Hall: Honoring the Greats of Stand-Up.' Then over at the Greek Theatre, 'Stand Out: An LGBTQ+ Celebration' will be highlighting the countless queer comedians who have taken Hollywood by storm. Plus, you can catch 'In Conversation' segments with laugh legends such as Larry David, Tina Fey, and Amy Poehler. Need we say more? And to top it all off, Pete Davidson, Maya Rudolph, and Chelsea Handler will also be stopping by.
