Mandy Patinkin and Kathryn Grody have been married for forty-three years. Their relationship is so entertaining that their son, Gideon Grody-Patinkin, decided to team up with his partner Ewen Wight and write a television show about it! A scripted comedy titled Seasoned, the show will portray the more humorous side of the couple's marriage. While most children wouldn't dare to publicly mock their parent's marriage for all the world to see, Patinkin and Grody are actually in on the fun. With the actors on board to play versions of themselves, it's safe to say he's been given free rein to do what he needs to to get the laughs. We can only begin to imagine the hilariously relatable moments they will portray...
According to the officially released synopsis, Seasoned will follow the "delightfully tumultuous relationship and life of a successful, gregarious, deeply committed, slightly insane married couple played by Patinkin and Grody — roles they've been rehearsing for the last 43 years. The source of their unending magic is the same as their unending woe: that they've stayed together all this time."
Showtime entertainment president, Gary Levine, first announced the show and praised the talented family while doing so. "Mandy and Kathryn helped me and millions of online viewers get through the pandemic with their wonderfully warm, funny, and inspired social media posts. Together they fearlessly show us the joy and the chaos of marriage, aging, and grappling with the indignities of everyday life. We are thrilled to welcome them back to Showtime, along with their talented son Gideon and his partner Ewen who are expanding their posts into a half-hour comedy pilot for us."
