Kerry Washington and Delroy Lindo are set to star in a new comedy series, Unprisoned, through the latest Onyx Collective platform on Hulu. The series was picked up for eight episodes at half an hour each, and Olivia Pope fans everywhere are excited to get their favorite crisis management expert back on screen, even if it's not as Ms. Pope herself! So let's take a look at what we know thus far about the soon-to-be hit comedy series...

Unprisoned is Onyx Collective's first scripted comedy, and they got two of the best actors in town to get things started! Creators of color and underrepresented voices have put together a new content brand at Disney, Onyx Collective, primarily live on Hulu, taking on specifically curated projects. Dana Walden, chairman of Entertainment, Walt Dinsey Television, announced the content brand last year and since then has set up a platform for creative artists everywhere, including Tracy McMillan's, Unprisoned.

The comedy series, based on creator Tracy McMillian's life, follows the complicated but perfectionist therapist who is also a single mom (Washington) and her father (Lindo), who has recently gotten out of prison and moves in with her and her teenage son. So, needless to say, the storyline will make for an excellent comedy series, and we're excited to see Washington and Lindo deviate from their typical storylines into lighter roles. "From the moment Tracy McMillan brought this project to Simpson Street, we knew that it had the potential to be provocative, groundbreaking, and life-affirming," Washington gushed. "I love this show. I love these characters and the stories that they inspire. And I'm extremely excited to be working, once again, with both Onyx collective and ABC signature, and honored to be collaborating with this talented group of creative partners."

In addition to starring, both Washington and Lindo will be executive producers on the special comedy series. This will be Washington's second collab with Onyx Collective, the first being an executive producer on an upcoming legal drama, Reasonable Doubt, which feels right for someone who played Olivia Pope for so many years. However, there is no update on when the scheduled comedy will hit the small screens - until then, stay tuned for more updates!
