Jerry Seinfeld hinted to fans that something may be happening with the hit sitcom named after him. The comedian teased there’s a secret to fans at a recent standup show. Here’s what you need to know.

For nine seasons, Jerry Seinfeld played a fictionalized version of himself on the NBC sitcom Seinfeld, which was co-created by Seinfeld and Larry David. The television show centered around the standup comedian and his three friends, George Constanza, Elaine Benes, and Cosmo Kramer. It was the famous “show about nothing” and depicts the friends’ daily lives living and working in New York City. The show ran from 1989 to 1998 and is considered one of the greatest comedies ever. While fans loved watching every episode, its finale has been considered controversial. During a recent standup show in Boston, Seinfeld was asked by an audience member if he “liked the ending” of the beloved sitcom. Seinfeld responded, “The ending. Of the show? Well, I have a little secret for you about the ending. But I can’t really tell it, ‘cause it is a secret.”

A secret?! What could that possibly mean for the long-running comedy? The comedian continued, “Here’s what I’ll tell you, okay? But you can’t tell anybody. Something is going to happen with that ending – it hasn’t happened yet.” The audience immediately started to cheer and applaud. That’s not all that Seinfeld had to say. He continued once more, “And just what you have been thinking about, Larry and I have been thinking about, so you’ll see.” The show’s finale consisted of two episodes where the four friends were found guilty of violating a local Good Samaritan law in a small town. While they did the crime unknowingly, they were sentenced to prison time. This isn’t the first time that rumors of a reunion have surfaced. In 2021, Jerry denied rumors of a possible return during a Netflix press junket. The actor said, “There’s absolutely nothing going on.” He added, “I don’t know what we would do that would be good.”

However, based on what the comedian said the other night, fans now have a glimmer of hope that the beloved cast will be returning. Other cast members included Jason Alexander, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Michael Richards. Stay tuned for more updates.
