Harrison Ford is officially joining the cast of the upcoming comedy series, Shrinking! The Indiana Jones legend is making his way to Apple TV+ in his first major television role to star in the 10 part series. We love ourselves some Harrison Ford and are thrilled he will be making his way to the small screen soon. Here's what we know so far.
Famously known for his cinematic power in the ongoing role as Indiana Jones and Han Solo in Star Wars, Harrison Ford has made his name globally known in the biz a looong time. Shrinking will be the first time Ford is a series regular of any television series in his 50 plus years of acting. Indiana Jones himself has dabbled in the television world in an episode of The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles in 1993 and an assortment of other productions. Still, the world is excited to see him shine on Apple TV+. Ford will be joining How I Met Your Mother star Jason Segal, also credited as the series writer and executive producer. Joined by Segal are Ted Lasso's producers Bill Lawrence and Brett Goldstein, so we know we're in for a good old laugh!
Produced by The Warner Bros. Television and Lawrence's studio-based Doozer Productions, Shrinking follows Segal as a grieving therapist who starts to go against all the rules and tell his clients what he really thinks. Could you imagine sitting on the opposite end of that chair? Ford will play Dr. Phil Rhodes, a "down-to-earth, sharp as a tack 'blue-collar shrink,' blunt but with an ever present twinkle," according to Deadline. The story will follow the Cognitive Behavioral Therapist who has built a thriving practice over time - but has also been recently diagnosed with Parkinson's, making him breach his comfort zone and reconnect with intrusive friends and distanced family.
Although there are no details on the current release date for Shrinking, with Jason Segal and Harrison Ford behind it, we'll be sure not to miss it. And in the meantime, Doctor Jones will be reprising his famous role in the upcoming Indiana Jones sequel directed by James Mangold, which is currently in the post-production phases. Stay tuned.
