The sitcom Ghost's co-creators Ben Willbond and Laurence Rickard have announced an upcoming comedy series, We Are Not Alone. The show is set to be released in 2022 on UKTV channel Dave. Here are all the details.
The We Are Not Alone trailer gave us some details on what it will be about, and it's gearing up to be a LOL-worthy hit. Set six weeks after the Gu'un aliens have invaded and completely conquered Earth, We Are Not Alone explores the culture clash between humankind and its new masters. The extraterrestrials are trying to make sense of a planet so confusing and idiotic that its inhabitants "can't even agree which side of the road to drive on."
The entire storyline is told through the eyes of an alien named Stewart, portrayed by Declan Baxter. Stewart acts as the messenger since his job is to deliver news from the alien race to the humans. But the twist is that he's secretly helping out the human race's resistance. All while making sure his roommate, Greggs, played by Joe Thomas, doesn't find out his true plan. Other actors set to star in this comedy are Vicki Pepperdine, Georgia May Foote, and Amanda Abbington.
This isn't the first time the writers of the script, Willbond and Rickard, have created a show about immortal beings. They are most popularly known for their work on BBC One's Ghosts, which is currently on its fourth season. The pair spoke of their latest project, "We are so excited to be bringing this project to you puny Earthlings. We've never attempted anything so ambitious or ridiculous, so we're thrilled to be joined on the adventure by such an incredible cast and phenomenal crew." It seems like it's going to be a bit different than the classic apocalyptic movies we're already familiar with.
The head of scripted at UKTV, Pete Thornton, also explained, "The premise of this highly original Special is as richly comic as it is timely. We've seen shows before about alien invasion, but none have grappled with how said aliens might try to govern and live alongside us after their (inevitably pathetically easy) victory." We Are Not Alone is definitely being added to our watch list.
