When it comes to penning the perfect comedy series, Dan Levy has the craft finely tuned. After working on How I Met Your Father, The Goldbergs, Mulaney, Whitney, and The Awesomes, the comedic legend has learned what works and quickly proved his worth in the TV industry. With his impressive resume in hand, Levy pitched his new series, Exit Strategy, to the bosses at HBO. Clearly, they loved it, as they are set to develop the multi-camera comedy in the coming months. Here's what we know so far...
According to the official synopsis, the comedy series will center around "three self-involved best friends (Marcus, Dave, and Sara) in their early twenties who all work at the same terrible start-up and all f—ing hate their boss. This trio needs to start their life, and Marcus, the leader of the crew, believes the only way to do so is to quit their awful job. However, before Marcus gets his chance, his boss fires him first. Now he really f—ing hates him."
For all those inevitably confused, the comedy world is blessed to have not one but two Dan Levys. Here, we are not referring to the brains behind the hilarious Schitt's Creek, but the other one - more known for his time behind the camera! The pair recently poked fun at the name match in an Instagram selfie. "Once a year, we meet up and agree to keep having the same name," they joked.
Not only did Levy create this new series, but he will also serve as the show's executive producer and showrunner. Keeping himself busy, the comedian is working simultaneously on a comedy series for Peacock. Based on the early career of Kevin Hart, True To Size will tell the story of Hart's troubles as a sneaker salesman. In addition, Dan is flexing his stand-up comedy skills as he is currently joining John Mulaney on his From Scratch tour. There's no word yet on who will play Marcus, Dave, and Sara in Exit Strategy, but you can be sure we will be watching closely as the updates come in. Until then, stay tuned!
