The crowds went wild at the Television Critics Association's 2023 Winter Press Tour when Apple TV+ debuted their new mystery-comedy series, The Big Door Prize. While news of this upcoming project had been announced a few months prior, this was the first time actual details on the series had been released. With a rock-solid cast and an intriguing plotline, it's set to be the next buzzworthy series. Want to be ahead of the fanfare? Here's everything you need to know.

Based on the novel with the same title by M.O. Walsh, the series portrays a world in which people are able to discover their true purpose in life. "The Big Door Prize tells the story of a small town that is forever changed when a mysterious machine appears in the general store, promising to reveal each resident's true life potential," the official synopsis reads. The official trailer (see below) indicates this town to be Deerfield, a place where mundane, aimless life has significantly consumed the residents.

Chris O'Dowd will be taking on the role of Dusty, a passionate teacher, a loving father, and a devoted husband. While he appreciates and recognizes all the blessings in his life, he often feels overwhelmed and depressed by the thought of how to make his time on earth important and worthwhile. When he learns of this machine that will allow him to see his true destiny, he is intrigued and interested in giving it a go. The rest of the cast includes Gabrielle Dennis, Ally Maki, Josh Segarra, Damon Gupton, Crystal Fox, Sammy Fourlas, and Djouliet Amara. David Ellison and Dana Goldberg are the show's executive producers on behalf of Skydanxce Television. Miky Lee, Young Kyu Kim, and Hyun Park executive produce on behalf of CJ ENM/Studio Dragon.

While the show's concept doesn't immediately scream big laughs, the trailer suggests that the machine itself will be responsible for some hilariously chaotic moments throughout. It's also promising that the brain behind the show is none other than David West Read - the Emmy award-winning Schitt's Creek writer and producer. The season, comprised of 10 thirty minutes episodes, is set to premiere only on Apple TV+ this Spring. Until then, check out our list of other great comedy series available on Apple TV+ now!
