A star-studded tribute in honor of the late Bob Saget is coming to Netflix this June! Saget was known as an extraordinary comedian and ultimately America's father figure as Danny Tanner on Full House. To honor this iconic T.V. legend, friends and family have come together at The Comedy Store in Hollywood to commemorate their beloved pal. Here's what to know.
The event was organized by one of Saget's good friends, Mike Binder, and was formally announced by him on the podcast Dystopia Tonight! with John Poveromo. A limited number of tickets were sold to true Saget fans for the event, which benefited the Scleroderma Research Foundation, a cause close to Saget, as his sister passed away from the disease. The upcoming special will feature plenty of A-list celebrities, including Hollywood stars and friends of Saget, Chris Rock, Jim Carrey, John Stamos, John Mayer, and Jeff Ross, the star's wife, Kelly Rizzo, and his daughters. "It was a magical night," Binder said. "And we filmed it. And I showed it to Netflix. I said, 'Look at this! Just look at 16 minutes of this.' And Robbie Craw, the head of comedy at Netflix, he just said, 'This is remarkable.' And they bought it as a special." And now, we will all get to see this remarkable tribute...
So what can we expect to see in the upcoming special? Binder shared a clip on the podcast that featured Rock and Carrey on stage with some rather dark humor, but the crowd loved it. Rock humorously teased, "I think it is sad that the mother****** had to die to get Jim Carrey back on stage." Carrey laughed and noted, "I only come out on sad occasions." Rock then responded, "If this is the only way we get to see you perform, I'm going to kill Eddie Murphy next week." Ah, comedy. We love to hear it lift people up during their most vulnerable moments.
