A family in Louisiana decided to pull a prank on their grandmother by wrapping up her own possessions and giving them back to her as Christmas presents. And as if that wasn't funny enough, the whole thing ended up winning them over $100,000 from America's Funniest Home Videos!
The Williams family had been collecting items from their grandmother's house for months leading up to Christmas. They would sneakily grab things while pretending to go to the bathroom, which is a pretty hilarious way to steal stuff if you ask me. They then wrapped everything up and waited eagerly for their grandmother's reactions. When it was time for the first present to be opened, Carol Keating, the unsuspecting grandmother, immediately grew suspicious. She recognized an ornament that looked similar to one she already owned. But it wasn't until the second gift was opened, a Michael Kors wallet, that she caught on to the prank. "Ha! I got something like that at home!" she exclaimed.
It's safe to say that the entire family had a good laugh at Carol's expense. But they knew they had something special on their hands when they submitted the video to America's Funniest Home Videos. The video, titled 'Gifting Granny's Goods,' ended up winning them the grand prize of $120,000! That's one expensive prank! According to Paige Williams, one of the family members involved in the prank, they were inspired by a TikTok trend. "My sister and I had seen a video on Tiktok about taking stuff from someone's house and regifting the gifts to see their reaction and we knew Granny was perfect for the prank," she explains. And they were right! Granny took it all in good spirits, just like the fun-loving woman she is.

The Williams family say that the prank was all in the spirit of how their grandma normally behaves. She's known for giving joke gifts, so they figured it was only fair to turn the tables on her. And while they may have cheaped out when it came to giving gifts in 2022, who knows? Perhaps they'll be stepping up their game in 2023 with that prize money. All in all, it's a heartwarming story about a family having some good old-fashioned fun and winning big in the process. And it just goes to show that sometimes the best gifts are the ones you already have. So don't stress over holiday shopping this year - it might end up being a lot easier than you think!
