It's the most wonderful time of the year! Believe it or not, we're not talking about December 25th this time. We're talking about the snowstorm that morphed NYC from a concrete jungle to a winter wonderland this past week... And the massive snowball fight that soon followed, because, well, why not? Someone cue the childhood nostalgia...

It all started on February 1st, as the Big Apple welcomed one of the biggest snowstorms yet. With over 13 inches of snow, it wasn't long before the streets were covered in white fluff. But this time around, instead of a cozy day spent by the fireplace or with a cup of Nestle, New Yorkers had other plans.

Of course, we're talking about the massive snowball fight that soon followed - and we have "Sidetalk" to thank for that. The Instagram account, otherwise known as "New York’s one-minute street show," as their bio reads, organized the event at Washington Square Park. Safe to say, they had quite the turnout.

"There were easily over 100 people in total. It was fun: lots of laughter and good times!" as photographer Cole McManus recalled of the viral event. "It's what New Yorkers needed, to be honest." We couldn't agree more, Cole. But it appears we're not the only ones who feel that way.

"New York City is back, baby..." former NBA player Rex Chapman gushed on Twitter of the chilly festivities. After sharing a clip of the hilarious ordeal, it wasn't long before Chapman's post melted hearts online. And with almost 130,000 'likes?' Perhaps Sidetalk was on to something...

As a matter of fact, our childhood selves would be buzzing right about now. But if there's one thing to take away from this heartwarming antic? We're never too old (or cold) to have fun, right?

On that note, excuse us, we have some snowmen that need tending to.
