Another day, another confusing celebrity baby name. The internet is losing its mind, once again, for the latest Musk-Grimes naming choice. As reported by Vanity Fair, the pair welcomed their second child in December via surrogate. After calling their firstborn X Æ A-12, X for short, the world's wealthiest man and his girlfriend had a tough act to follow. Fortunately, they had something just as entertaining up their sleeves and named their daughter Exa Dark Sideræl, referring to her as Y for short. Cue the jokes and memes!
Most obviously, a large group of users was quick to point out the mathematical nature of the children's names. "So Elon musk and Grimes have their son, "X," now they have welcomed their daughter who's nicknamed "Y," so what they just need a third named "Z" to complete their coordinate plane?" joked one user. "Now that it's been revealed that Grimes and @elonmusk have a new daughter Y to go with their son X, we can conclusively prove that X is related to Y... and that, my friends, is the funniest statistics joke you're going to get today. #maths," laughed another.
Others noticed the scientific humor behind the names. "Did Grimes and Elon Musk really name their kids x and y. and evidently the boy is x, and the girl is y?.... now I ain't no chromosome expert but.." questioned one Twitter user, subtly referencing the apparent mix-up of the chromosome reference. Others took a more blunt approach, "they got it all wrong, x is female chromosome and y is male chromosome." LOL.

The most entertaining of the Twitter thread were the jokes that poked fun at the name's questionable spelling, seemingly made up of a random collection of letters and numbers. "Man anytime grimes and Elon musk have a baby, they decide the baby's name by smashing their hands on a keyboard and just decide to name their kids whatever they typed out," teased a fan. Be sure to check out Grimes' full interview with Vanity Fair. And, of course, stay tuned for more lighthearted fun.
