Hold on to your seats, folks. This story takes the cake and it’s hilarious! A “clumsy” bride from Sydney, Australia, destroyed her wedding cake during the reception by accidentally knocking it down. And boy, oh boy, did it go down. Briana Dutton, the 28-year-old bride, was slicing into her $350 buttercream cake when the whole thing slipped and toppled over. As if that wasn’t bad enough, only one slice was cut before the sweet treat was sent crashing onto the floor. Talk about a cake-tastrophe.
When asked about the unfortunate event, Dutton said, “Everyone would say I’m clumsy.” And boy, did she prove them right. She explained that the venue put the cake on a cake stand that appeared to be too heavy. “I put the knife in to cut the second piece,” Dutton said, “and as I put the knife down, the cake slipped. I saw it happen in slow motion.” Before she could stop it, the cake was in pieces all across the floor. They said she yelled out ‘it’s buttercream’ as it fell. Too bad, so sad. Guests at the wedding came running up to scrape cake off the floor, but everyone was laughing. Dutton and her husband, Taylor, 30, were quickly swept away for their first dance while their guests cleaned up the cake and served a few pieces that didn’t touch the ground. “I freaked out thinking, ‘That’s been on the floor,’” she said. But they cut the top layer that hadn’t touched the ground, so all was not lost.
And, as if fate had planned it, after the ceremony, the newlyweds were delighted to see that the hilarious moment was captured by the photographer. The disappointing moment eventually turned into a great memory when the photos came out showing the couple’s shock and laughter. “They are my favorite photos of the wedding,” Dutton said. “They are so real. I just adore them.” Hey, everyone needs a good laugh even on their wedding day, right? Now, some might think that was the end of her mishaps, but nope! Dutton had a few more up her sleeve. During her bachelorette party, she fell down the stairs and ripped her dress leaving a long tear down the back of her dress. “The back of my entire dress split. My whole bum was showing,” Dutton said. But her friends weren’t going to let her suffer alone. They used her mini veil and pinned it to her bum like a rabbit tail. Talk about friends for life.
