See Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds' Prank on Fallon and Kimmel
| LAST UPDATE 11/11/2021
Ryan Reynolds is most definitely not a newbie to pranking. The actor is known for playing tricks on many other A-list celebrities, especially his wife, Gossip Girl star, Black Lively. But, this time around the Deadpool actor didn't work alone. He was joined by Step Brothers star, Will Ferrell, in their hilarious prank on poor Jimmy Fallon and Kimmel.
It all started when Reynolds and Ferrell were each scheduled to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live and The Tonight Show, respectively. Jimmy Kimmel was prepared to have Reynolds on his show. While Fallon had booked the Elf star for The Tonight Show. But, the actors had decided amongst themselves that they would switch which host they would appear for... without notifying either one of the Jimmy's.
The shows were set to air on the same day, so when the prank was occurring none of the viewers were really aware of the stunt until afterwards. But, of course, the hosts understood what their guests had done. Kimmel started cracking up when he saw Ferrell come on stage after he had called for Reynolds to come out. It confused the audience but, the comedic actor cleared things up, "Yeah, Ryan couldn’t make it, I got a text from him, said he was running late, which usually means he’s not gonna show up." On The Jimmy Kimmel show, Reynolds gave a similar explanation to why he was there.
Guest appearances weren't the only things the pair swapped that night. They vowed to each other to promote the other person's upcoming projects. Ferrell focused on discussing Reynold's new movie Red Notice, which will feature Gal Gadot and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. But, it seemed like Reynolds had forgotten to inform him what it was about!. Ferrell admitted, "Haven't seen a stitch of it, I saw the billboards, they’re wearing tuxedos. So you know it’s going to be classy."
But, it looked like Reynolds somehow knew even less than his partner in crime. He tried to explain what Ferrell's upcoming mini-series, The Shrink Next Door, was about but, he couldn't have been more wrong. He said it was comparable to Ant-Man when The Tonight Show host decided to roll a clip of the Apple TV series. "Holy s---, that's nothing like 'Ant-Man' at all!" he noticed.
Well there you have it, folks, these actors are just as funny off-screen as they are on. We hope this isn't the last time they play a practical joke together!
