Will Ferrell and Marc Anthony just became the most unlikely of comedic duos. Here's how the two icons rocked the stage at the Changing Lives, Building Dreams Gala, bringing more goodness and laughter to the world.

New York City was the place to be on December 8th, when some of the biggest Hollywood stars joined Marc Anthony for his non-profit's annual gala. The singer's Maestro Cares Foundation aims to uplift disadvantaged children and communities in North and South America. And this year, Will Ferrell received the Courage to Care Award at the yearly event. What started out as a sweet night of charity and empowerment led to one very hilarious moment.

As part of the celebrations, Marc Anthony hit the stage to perform his 1999 track, I Need to Know. And it wasn't long before Ferrell surprised fans by jumping into the spotlight, too. Things only got better from there as Will hilariously referenced the iconic Saturday Night Live skit from 2000, More Cowbell. The hilarious sketch moment featured Christopher Walken as music producer Bruce Dickinson, along with Will Ferrell, Chris Kattan, Chris Parnell, Horatio Sanz, and Jimmy Fallon as members of the Blue Öyster Cult band.

"Guess what? I got a fever, and the only prescription is more cowbell," Walken said in the sketch, unknowingly creating one of SNL's most memorable lines. And Ferrell decided to channel that energy when he joined Marc Anthony for I Need to Know. Will had his trusty cowbell as he hit the stage and, right on cue, Marc said, "I can't hear the cowbell!" It's far from the first time the Anchorman star throws it back to the good ol' days of More Cowbell.

Back in 2019, Ferrell told Fallon how the sketch "ruined" the life of one of the stars. "Here's the crazy thing - I go to see Christopher Walken years later in a play. I say hello to him backstage, and he's like, 'You know, you've ruined my life. People during the curtain call bring cowbells and ring them. The other day I went for an Italian food lunch and the waiter asked if I wanted more cowbell with my pasta Bolognese,'" he shared. "And I think he was really mad at me. He had a little smile, but... what are you gonna do?" Well, Will, the answer seems pretty clear to us: you probably just need more cowbell.
