The two most important days of your life are most probably the day you meet your other half and the day you ask them to marry you. So it's safe to say that the pressure is on. If you're thinking about asking your loved one to tie the knot, then you've come to the right place.
These proposals could also show you exactly what not to do. Honestly, most of them are so over-the-top that it might freak your partner out. However, we have to give credit to the creativity. Gone are the days of simply going down on one knee, its 2019 people, you need to keep up.
Well, chocolate covered strawberries are always nice but, have you ever thought about getting a carrot involved? Pang Kun took his girlfriend Zhao Xinyu, to a local shopping mall. He then excused himself to go to the bathroom and left Zhao waiting for him to return.
[caption id="attachment_1039" align="aligncenter" width="711"] Facebook/ Pang Kun[/caption]
While Zhao waited, she watched as a flashmob of 49 carrots broke out. Pang's very confused girlfriend watched in amusement until one of the carrots took off his outfit and got down on one knee. Pang must have some pretty good friends to all dress up and dance in carrot outfits.
Take The High Road
Why make a sign when you could go all out and plaster it on a billboard? Let's list the pro's here. It definitely makes traffic a whole lot more entertaining, you also don't need to subject to your eyes to another advert about rice or sunglasses. Instead, there's a beautiful message to read.
[caption id="attachment_1041" align="alignnone" width="4096"] Shutterstock[/caption]
There have been a few couples in the past to take this idea but, there's a good reason for it. The person in your passenger seat is guaranteed to be surprised. Moreover, worst-case scenario if he/she says no, at least you're in the privacy of your own car.
Truly Heart Stopping
30-Year-old Alexey Bykov decided to take the term 'heart skipped a beat' to a whole new level. When he took his girlfriend for a normal day out, she got way more than she bargained for. Alexey decided to fake his own death and turn it into a proposal.
[caption id="attachment_1046" align="aligncenter" width="694"] Facebook/ One FM 94.3[/caption]
He hired actors, a stuntman and obviously a very good makeup artist. After he 'died' he then jumped up and asked his girlfriend to marry him. She responded by stating "I was so cross I almost killed him again but, for real this time". So this is a good idea but it could also go both ways.
Nobody Likes A Chicken
A few years ago there was a proposal that received so much mockery after it occurred, the poor couple took all the evidence down. Two love birds were on their way to get some Church's Chicken when one lucky lady was offered something of the menu... Marriage.
[caption id="attachment_1047" align="alignnone" width="5472"] Shutterstock[/caption]
Whilst waiting in the drive-through, when they finally reached the intercom to order, the person on the other end explained that the driver would like to marry the passenger. She said yes but, the public gave them a little bit of a hard time. As long as they're happy that's all that matters oh, and if they got their chicken of course.
If You're Not The One
There is no doubt that Daniel Bedingfield's hit song 'If you're not the one' has been played at numerous romantic moments. Pete Simson decided he agreed with that theory but went with a different approach.
[caption id="attachment_1048" align="alignnone" width="1745"] Shutterstock[/caption]
Pete lip sings the entire song in a video which is still on youtube. It's pretty much the most uncomfortable yet adorable video to watch. I hope for his sake she said yes because that video is already sitting on over 100,000 views.
Let The Ring Talk
It's often said that if the ring is big and shiny enough, you don't really need to say much more than that. Luke Jerram took the option of not saying anything to a different extreme.
[caption id="attachment_1049" align="alignnone" width="710"] LukeJerram.com[/caption]
He collaborated with a jewelry store and etched a 20 second sound recording on the surface of the ring. This is super strange but it's also kind of adorable. Let's hope she said yes otherwise that talking ring might just talk to someone else.
I understand that there are a lot of guys out there that love their video games more than anything but, this is another level. There was a couple who sat down to play a regular game of Super Mario when suddenly, they reached a new level.
[caption id="attachment_1051" align="alignnone" width="5334"] Shutterstock[/caption]
After guiding his girlfriend through the land of the Italian plumber, he got down on one knee. Apparently, his girlfriend was so used to his behavior, she said yes before he even had the chance to ask.
Tweet Tweet Tweet
When in doubt, you can always rely on social media to have your back. This is great for those who are on a serious budget. Can you imagine if you were just scrolling through Twitter without purpose when someone suddenly asks to marry you?
[caption id="attachment_1052" align="alignnone" width="634"] Daily Mail[/caption]
At least Brett went to the effort of getting the Virginia Senator involved in the couple's happiness. Beth was put under a whole new version of pressure, once you get politics involved it gets pretty legit.
Super Duper Mario
This couple took the video game experience to a whole new level. Two love birds were both committed fans to Super Mario so the boyfriend decided to run with it. His girlfriend was welcomed into a real Super Mario world.
[caption id="attachment_1053" align="aligncenter" width="695"] Youtube/ SilvasRW[/caption]
The bride to be was guided through a room with Super Mario walls and the theme song playing in the background. The video of the proposal is on Youtube with already over 1 million views. Every Super Mario fan is happy for this couple.
When In Doubt, Google.
Even though Michael, a self-confessed nerd, and Google employee, already got the 'yes' from his girlfriend. He still felt his proposal was “lacking in pizazz,”. So he went back to the drawing board.
[caption id="attachment_1054" align="alignnone" width="1157"] Google Street View[/caption]
Michael decided to use the power of Google Street View to get Leslie's attention. He guided her to the location and she was surprised with her second proposal. He also had others stand there as well to make it that much more special. Can you imagine if she decided the second time round to say no? Is it too late to go back to the first proposal?
Feels Like Flying
If you really want to sweep your partner off their feet, then maybe try a location with zero gravity so they can literally not touch the ground. Alexander decided to make his girlfriend feel like marrying him would be like flying.
[caption id="attachment_1055" align="alignnone" width="1078"] Facebook/ Alexander Loucopoulos[/caption]
Alexander took his girlfriend on a zero-gravity flight and swept his lady off her feet. I just have one concern, how do you go down on one knee when you can't reach the floor? Besides that this seems like an appropriate way to start a life together.
The Best Network
There's nothing you can't find on the internet including love. Dave Garr decided to become one of those annoying websites and turn it into something really cute. He created his own website DaveLovesElizabeth.com as a platform for his proposal.
[caption id="attachment_1056" align="alignnone" width="1094"] DaveLovesElizabeth.com[/caption]
Beth was lead by a series of questions until she reached the final stage where she could decide the fate of this bachelor. This is adorable and also cringe-worthy at the same time.
Something's In The Water
This kind of proposal is a little bit boring if you're a mermaid but, if you're a regular person then it might just be the best idea ever. This couple was on a regular date at the Adventure Aquarium when suddenly, the shark tank had something out of the ordinary.
[caption id="attachment_1057" align="alignnone" width="768"] Adventure Aquarium[/caption]
There was something fishy in the water but, it wasn't a fish. Sure enough, it was a big board asking for her hand in marriage. This is a full proof idea and the only risk involved is that someone has a chance of being eaten by a shark.
In 2012, Pizza Hut offered the marriage proposal of all time and totally budget friendly. On your night in with takeout and a movie, why not kill two birds with one stone and ask your other half for their hand in marriage too?
[caption id="attachment_1058" align="aligncenter" width="714"] Beta News[/caption]
This pizza menu offers basically an entire wedding in your take out order. Unless your other half is super easy going or very addicted to pizza, this might not be the best root to take.
A Night At The Movies
This is seriously the ultimate proposal (if you're absolutely sure they're going to say yes). Matt took his girlfriend Charlie, to see a movie. Usually, everyone hates the commercials before the movie but, not this time.
[caption id="attachment_1059" align="alignnone" width="1146"] Youtube/ Making Movies Jealous[/caption]
Charlie was presented with a commercial of Matt asking her father for permission to marry her. Of course, both parties said yes. I don't know about you, but this seems like the most beautiful way to propose.
Calling on all our Star Trek fanatics. If a Star Trek theme wouldn't be nerdy enough then at least we have this guy. He filmed himself asking his girlfriend to marry him but chose a very creative root.
[caption id="attachment_1060" align="alignnone" width="1145"] Youtube/ DoctorPappa[/caption]
He didn't just come right out with the question. He used the words "Rachel, you are awesome, will you marry me?" into a binary code. He also chose the perfect look by wearing the head of Bender from Futurama. It only took her an hour to figure out what he was saying.
15 Minutes Of Fame
This poor girl thought she was finally getting her chance to be famous. Her boyfriend Chizzy, told her that a magazine wanted to take pictures of her and hold an interview where she would be asked a few personal questions.
[caption id="attachment_1061" align="aligncenter" width="5616"] Shutterstock[/caption]
At least she got the pre-celeb treatment. After a few hours of hair and makeup with photographers there to capture every movement, this upcoming superstar found out very quickly that this was no ordinary magazine. During the interview she was asked if she would marry Chizzy, I hope she wasn't too disappointed to say yes.
Actors For Pressure
Once again, Star Trek has made its way into our list again. Only this time, there was very little to figure out and the cast was there for the main show. While the Trekkies were attending the Austin Wizard World Comic Con, this brave husband to be found the perfect moment.
[caption id="attachment_1064" align="alignnone" width="1162"] Daily Mail[/caption]
He got down on one knee in front of the cast. They seem to be more excited and overwhelmed with emotion that the happy couple. Either way, it makes for a great story to tell at the wedding.
I Do For Disney
Now, this proposal you've most like heard of before. It already has over 15 million views on youtube! Jamin decided to take his girlfriend Val, for a fun day at Disney Land and she had no idea what was coming next.
[caption id="attachment_1065" align="alignnone" width="949"] Youtube/ MarvelsDanceCompany[/caption]
The happy couple was watching the craziest flashmob when suddenly, Jamin himself joined in and that gave Val a pretty good idea as to what was happening. When the incredible dance was over, he proposed and the massive crowd around them were overjoyed. I would probably just say yes from the pressure of everyone watching.
A Farmers Nightmare
I don't even want to know the amount of time and effort put into this one. Rick Davies explained that he used a quad bike and a weed killer to put his question in the field. He then took his sweetheart on a plane to see his latest crops.
[caption id="attachment_1066" align="aligncenter" width="711"] AgriLand[/caption]
He had thought about how to ask her for some time. “Then I won a flight at a charity auction for £50. After about two weeks it suddenly came to me that I could write it in the crops and we could go up in the plane." Not a bad idea at all, except for all the crop you just wasted Rick.
Boy Band Or Toy Band
This guy decided to take the ultimate route in order to avoid expressing his feelings. He also made sure his friends were with him throughout the whole process. These must be pretty good friends if they're prepared to make fools of themselves like this.
[caption id="attachment_1067" align="alignnone" width="845"] Youtube/ aushardcorefan[/caption]
The boys formed a fake boy band and in the most masculine way possible, presented his lady with the ultimate question. At least if she says no, they have a pretty good chance of going viral and starting a career.
A Rollercoaster Ride
As if asking the question isn't scary enough already, why don't we add a rollercoaster to the equation. The truth is if you go on a rollercoaster, did you even go on if you didn't get the complimentary picture where you look like a ghost to prove it?
[caption id="attachment_1069" align="aligncenter" width="529"] Pinterest[/caption]
Most people usually choose to keep the proposal plans a secret. Lawrence Key managed to keep it a secret right up until after he had already asked the question. How they all managed to be in sync and on time for the photo during adrenaline like this is straight up skill.
If you're worried about your girlfriend saying yes to the big question then puppies truly are the perfect form of manipulation. There's also a silver lining if she chooses to say no, you get to keep the puppy!
[caption id="attachment_1071" align="aligncenter" width="701"] Youtube/ Daily Mail[/caption]
This girl wasn't too impressed by the fact that her boyfriend brought home another dog. However, she turned her reaction around very quickly when she realized the little black fluff ball in her arms had a ring on his color.
Not Just A Shopping Run
Dustin arrived at the Home Depot in Salt Lake City thinking he was just being a good friend, helping pick out some lights. He was then taken to the lumber aisle and saw something he never could've expected at Home Depot.
[caption id="attachment_1072" align="alignnone" width="950"] Youtube/ Spencer Stout[/caption]
A flashmob broke out and suddenly he understood what was happening. These flash mobs are clearly a great idea. It works even better if you know how to dance. The only risk is if they say no, you've practiced all these moves for nothing and that has to hurt worse than the breakup.
This is just the sweetest thing and what makes it even better is the reaction of the basketball players. This guy wanted to propose to his girlfriend in an unforgettable way.
[caption id="attachment_1074" align="aligncenter" width="701"] Youtube/ Pete Campbell[/caption]
Pete and his girlfriend both ref for the basketball games at a high school. During one of the biggest games of the season, the game was stopped for an emergency message. The video on youtube already has over 30 000 views so those students definitely got talking.
This is a simple and sweet idea. The only concern I would have is that if you give the camera your bad angle, it's not like you can just 'retake' the moment without it seeming fake. Or it could go as successfully as this couples happy day.
[caption id="attachment_1081" align="aligncenter" width="702"] Bride Story[/caption]
This guy whipped out the ring at the perfect moment and the two of them look adorable. I don't know about you, but I would use this photo as the wedding invitation too.
I know there are some people out there who love to exercise and be productive all the time, I'm simply not one of them so this wouldn't be the ideal way to propose. However, there are people out there who consider a workout to be super fun. If you and your loved one are part of this group then here is your answer.
[caption id="attachment_1082" align="alignnone" width="2700"] Shutterstock[/caption]
There have been a few couples who did a rock climbing outing that took hours to get to the final viewing spot. Once they reach the desired destination, covered with sweat and all, the golden question comes out.
Don't let the fact that this idea involves umbrellas lead you to believe that you have to wait for a rainy day to propose. It's the perfect way to hide in plain sight and people could very easily be using these umbrellas to protect them from the sun right?
[caption id="attachment_1083" align="aligncenter" width="605"] BoredPanda[/caption]
Sure, there's the expense of buying all those umbrellas but at least if you ever lose one you have a few to spare. You also need about 15 friends who are willing to hold up these umbrellas for you, that could be pretty difficult to arrange.
The Good Fortune
This is a super sneaky way to get someone to say 'yes'. Instead of asking them what the future holds, why not just tell them? And what better way is there to tell someone their future other than handing it to them via a fortune cookie.
[caption id="attachment_1084" align="alignnone" width="5472"] Shutterstock[/caption]
This is perfect for those who want to be creative but are also on a serious budget. I'm pretty sure these fortune cookies are one of the few things left in this life that can't expensive. I wouldn't even put the letter as a question I would just state a fact "You will marry the person next to you this Wednesday".
Only If It Comes With A Toy
First of all, Kinder is one of the best chocolates out there so, we're already off to a good start. Second of all, no matter how old you are, any meal or sweet that comes with a toy is already appealing regardless of the tase.
[caption id="attachment_1085" align="aligncenter" width="713"] TwoPlus.us[/caption]
If you plan on proposing like this, you'd better hope he/she knows how to build because we all know these toys can sometimes be tricky. At least whoever got this proposal, also got a Kinder chocolate too.
The Cards You Are Dealt
Cards Against Humanity is never a bad idea. You're guaranteed to laugh every time and a little giggle never does any harm. This couple is obviously very committed to the game if this is the proposal chosen.
[caption id="attachment_1087" align="aligncenter" width="704"] Burbada[/caption]
I'm not too sure how one would go about orchestrating this but the idea is pretty legendary. Also, you're almost guaranteed to win that round for sure.
