Hugh Jackman might not be the only celebrity cameo appearing in Deadpool 3. As revealed by a source via The DisInsider, rumors have been circulating that Taylor Swift may play a small role in the upcoming film, set for release on May 3, 2024. The potential leak comes a few months after Ryan Reynolds, creator and actor of Deadpool, released a teaser video for the film that fans couldn't help but notice looked familiar. The teaser was shot where the All Too Well: The Short Film shoot took place. Ryan was quick to dispel the rumors, but perhaps it was actually All Too True in the end.
This certainly wouldn't be Taylor's first encounter with the screen. With an extensive list of small roles, Taylor most recently had a minor role in acclaimed director David O. Russell's comedy mystery film Amsterdam. While the film did not get a lot of love, Taylor and her performance did. On top of that, Taylor is a talented director with a keen eye for detail and subtlety. The singer-songwriter directed All Too Well: The Short Film, an adaptation of her hit song of the same name. With online adoration and many awards for her film directorial debut, Taylor proved she should not just be left on stage.
Dazzler is a mutant able to convert sound vibrations into light and energy. She can use this power to create blinding light flashes, powerful energy beams, and even hard-light constructs. Using the stage name "Dazzler," Taylor's potential origin story character, Alison, sets out to make a name for herself in the music industry, using her light powers and dancing ability to enhance her performances. Sounds like someone else we know, doesn't it?
Dazzler is a popular character among fans, and she is often praised for her ability to lead the other X-Men in earlier editions of comic books. A leader that has the power to sing and dance like a boss? This character may as well have been written as Taylor. Dazzler appeared in the X-Men universe before Taylor's rumored portrayal of the essence. She was previously played by Halston Sage in Dark Phoenix (2019), which followed the origin story of Jean Gray, played by the wickedly talented Sophie Turner. We can't wait to see Taylor Swift on the big screen! Stay tuned...
