For regular Saturday Night Live fans, a season regular has been lacking for the past few episodes: Pete Davidson. But not to worry, we got some comforting words from another one of the show's stars, Bowen Yang, which showed just what a supportive cast and crew we've got bringing us comedy each week for the 47th season.
Bowen, who joined the iconic sketch comedy show back in 2018 as a writer, chatted with Entertainment Tonight while on the red carpet at this year's Critics Choice Awards. It didn't take long for interviewer questions to pivot to Pete, who has been making major headlines due to his personal life and relationship with certified A-lister, Kim Kardashian. But as hectic as life may be for the Staten Island comedian, Bowen assured us that he's got the support of his fellow castmates and they're showing it to him by "giving him space." "I think he's just, you know, figuring it out, because I think a lot is out of his control, in terms of people's responses," Yang shared, most likely hinting at the viral one-sided feud coming from Kim's ex-husband, Kanye.
"I think he's just getting back to his comfort and I think that is the best thing he can do," Bowen continued, praising his co-star and pal. "We are all thinking about him, and we love him so much." Talk about cast comradery! But of course, personal drama isn't the only thing on Davidson's radar at the moment. On top of rocking major headlines with his love triangle, he's also busy starring in yet another comedy project, this time as himself. With scheduling conflicts from competing filming gigs, it's certainly a jam-packed time for the 28-year-old stand-up star. But what's certainly his saving grace is his patient and understanding gang of comedians waiting for him at Studio H in 30 Rockefeller Plaza.
And to be fair, with such iconic guest hosts and musical acts lined up weekly, it's hard to remember Pete isn't even there! But that's SNL for you... Always raising the bar week by week. Be sure to check back for more entertainment news!
