Netflix's Space Force has it all: it's a show where comedy, science, and politics meet. Since the November announcement of the series's renewal for a second season, fans of the Netflix series have been waiting anxiously for news of a premiere date - and it's finally here! In only a matter of time, the show's fans will be reunited with their favorite characters from season 1. Here's what we can expect...
"Not even gravity can keep them down. Space Force returns on February 18," the show initially announced on its official Instagram page. The caption accompanied a video featuring General Mark R. Naird (played by Steve Carell), followed by a poster confirming the premiere date for the second season. The comments section of the video was flooded with excitement as fans expressed their enthusiasm at the news. Co-created by Carell and Greg Daniels, the seven-episode season will see the return of stars Steve Carell, John Malkovich, Ben Schwartz, Tawny Newsome, Jimmy O. Yang, Diana Silvers, and Don Lake. A few changes to the production of the new season were also announced. Norm Hiscock will work alongside Greg Daniels as co-showrunner of the season. Unlike the first season, which was shot in Los Angeles, the production of season 2 is set to take place in Vancouver.
The show's first season was centered on a four-star general, Naird, who teams up with a group of people to create the sixth branch of the United States Armed Forces: the U.S. Space Force. The season ended with an utter mess for the team: the threat of nuclear war, chaos in Habitat One, and rising tensions between China and General Naird. The first season earned the show a total of 7 award nominations: 4 Emmys, one Art Directors Guild, one Motion Picture Sound Editors, and a People's Choice Award!
The new season kicks off with General Naird & the crew having to prove their excellence to the new administration - all while dealing with other issues going on within the team. Season 2 will put the gang to the test: will they be able to overcome their challenges? Looks like we'll just have to wait to find out! Stay tuned.
