"Season 2. What a concept." That's how Netflix captioned a round-up of never-before-seen stills from the Emmy Award-winning comedy series that premiered back in 2019. Now, we don't know about you guys, but for three years, we've been waiting eagerly for Natasha Lyonne and the gang to get back to work and create more comedy magic. And finally, our wishes have come true.

Details on what the second season has to offer have been few and far between, but a report from Variety offered some much-wanted insight on the plot for the new installment. For starters, the show won't be ignoring the gap between seasons - rather it'll be embracing it. The plot will jump forward four years after Nadia (played by Natasha Lyonne) and Alan (Charlie Barnett) managed to escape from mortality's time loop. Now, they'll find themselves passing through a portal in busy Manhattan, where they will be confronted with their pasts. But of course, they're not the only faces we'll be seeing. There's a new crew of actors reading to bring their own comedic twist to the dramedy.

Annie Murphy, who played Alexa on Schitt's Creek, will be joining the cast, in addition to Carolyn Michelle Smith from Colony. And behind the scenes, we can look forward to more creative magic from the creative team. Lyonne will continue wearing her three hats (lead actress, showrunner, and executive producer) in addition to big names like Amy Poehler and many more. Now, it's safe to say that we're not the only ones excited with this upcoming installment of Russian Doll that's set to come to Netflix in the spring. Without so much as a teaser or trailer, the streaming service amassed a great deal of hype with their Instagram announcement, pulling in nearly 15 thousand likes and hundreds of comments from adoring fans. But amidst all the excitement, the number one question was when can we expect to see new episodes on the platform? Alas, lips are still sealed on the official release date, but if we've learned anything over the years, is that the longer we wait, the better the show.

Stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated release and all your comedy-related news!
