Only Murders in the Building has officially been renewed for a third season! The hit comedy has taken over the TV circuit since its release last summer - and audiences everywhere are dying to know more about what really goes down in the Upper West Side apartment complex, The Arconia. Now that season 2 has finally begun, fans are already desperately wondering when there will be a season 3! Lucky for us, Hulu has just given us some major updates...
For all those who haven't binge-watched Only Murders in the Building yet, let's break it down for ya. The dark comedy follows the hilarious trio, Martin Short, Steve Martin, and Selena Gomez, as they deem themselves detectives and begin a true-crime podcast where they discover the truths behind the murders taking place in their Building. Co-created and co-written by Steve Martin himself, the fantastic cast is joined by Tina Fey, Amy Schumer, and Cara Delevigne to create a show perfect for the whole family!
The first season was deemed as Hulu's most-watched original comedy series in all of its history and consistently earned 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. So, it's no surprise the show is coming back for some more fun - and characters! "Only Murders in the Building is the true crown jewel of our slate," gushed Craig Erwich, the president of Hulu Originals and ABC Entertainment. "Its appeal across generations, the intersection of humor and heart, and its truly original approach are a hallmark of and testament to Dan, John [Hoffman], Steve, Marty, and Selena's work. We are grateful to be able to continue telling the stories of Charles, Oliver, and Mabel to viewers that have consistently shown us they crave more of this story."
The show's renewal comes right before the Emmy nominations were announced, and Hulu made history by having 58 Emmy nominations to its name, with Only Murders in the Buildings taking home 17 nominations! Martin Short and Steve Martin were both nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, while the show was nominated in categories such as Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series, Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music, and more. Gomez, unfortunately, was not nominated for a lead role - but we're hoping to see the cast walk away with more than a few Emmys to their name! Stay tuned.
