Is there anything worse than falling in love with someone online and flying across the country to meet them...only to find out they were really just a catfish? Sound relatable? Well, we've got great news cause that's the premise behind Netflix's new upcoming Romantic-Comedy Love Hard debuting for the holidays this November! Here's what we know so far.
Starring Nina Dobrev, former lead in the hit series Vampire Diaries, alongside industry newcomers Jimmy O. Yang, and Darren Barnet, the film is said to tug on viewers heartstrings with tons of laugh out loud antics.
Directed by Costa Rican filmmaker Hernán Jiménez, the new title chronicles the misfortune of an LA journalist, played by Nina Dobrev, who falls for an East Coast guy, played by Jimmy O, through a dating app, and then sets out to surprise him for the holidays. Seems charming enough...only there just so happens to be a surprise waiting on the other side, her perfect guy is actually a catfish!
Nina Dobrev's character Natalie Bauer is a hopeless romantic and yet eternally single, at least that's what she thinks. The ill-fated venture is sure to lead to some hilarious scenarios as Dobrev battles to break her unlucky romantic streak with noteworthy twists and turns along the way. With the tagline, "Love doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to be honest," We'd expect something a bit more deep or earnest. But the director/producers have assured that the movie is lighthearted, being a "Romantic comedy about the lies we tell for love." Sounds like someone knows their audience.
Although Dobrev is an industry regular with a wide array of genres under her belt, the actress has yet to really branch out into the comedy scene. So, we're excited to see what she brings to the table with this new film.
