Just as we thought the cast of Mrs. American Pie couldn't get any better, we have been blessed with one of Hollywood's best. *Cue drumroll please,* Carol Burnett has officially signed on to join the star-studded cast, and we can't wait! The completely stacked cast already includes Kristen Wiig, Allison Janney, Laura Dern, Ricky Martin, Leslie Bibb, and Josh Lucas. If this isn't a dream cast, we're not sure what is!
Not to confuse Mrs. American Pie with the classic 1999 comedy American Pie starring Jason Biggs and Alyson Hannigan, Mrs. American Pie has quite a different plot en route. The exciting new Apple TV+ series is based on the 2018 novel by Juliet McDaniel and has been adapted into this promising young series. Taking place in the early 1970s, the series will follow Maxine Simmons (Kristen Wiig) as she tries to crossover into the very exclusive social scene that is Palm Beach. "As Maxine attempts to cross that impermeable line between the haves and the have-nots, Mrs. American Pie asks the same questions that still baffle us today," the streamer teased. "'Who gets a seat at the table?' 'How do you get a seat at the table?' 'What will you sacrifice to get there?'"
According to Apple TV+, the legendary Carol Burnett will play Norma, "the grande dame of Palm Beach high society and a keeper of secrets." We can only imagine Burnett as the perfect actress for the role, holding all the secrets of Palm Beach in her hands - plus some of her own. Most famously recognized for her role as Miss Hannigan in the 1982 film Annie, Carol Burnett has gone on to become one of the most influential faces in Hollywood! The hilarious actress helmed her own television series, The Carol Burnett Show, for over a decade, and Mrs. American Pie will mark the actress's first recurring role in television since CBS' Hawaii Five-O.
