What do you get when the NBA meets Mindy Kaling? Our soon-to-be favorite comedy. That's right. The Hollywood funny lady has just teamed up with the Los Angeles Lakers for an upcoming Netflix series. Here's what we know so far...

For starters, the untitled half-hour series will follow the adventures of fictional team governor, Eliza Reed as she "navigates NBA ownership and family drama with her best friend by her side," as Deadline revealed. Inspired by the front office of the Los Angeles Lakers, the workplace comedy will be giving us a little taste of everything. But wait, it gets even better.

If Mindy Kaling's role in the production isn't exciting enough, we've got a feeling this will do the trick: Modern Family's executive producer, Elaine Ko, will be penning the script. In other words? Expect a whole lot of laughs. (Though we can't promise Phil Dunphy or Cam will be making any appearances...)

All jokes aside, it appears we might be waiting a while before we tag along for ourselves. The untitled upcoming comedy has yet to be given a release date. But don't worry just yet, we've got lots of other Mindy Kaling gems to keep us busy in the meantime.

Of course, we're talking about Never Have I Ever, which is slated to return to our screens any week now. "I was 8 months pregnant in quarantine during the hottest summer ever when I wrote this... It was so fun to disappear into the world of these fun Sherman Oaks teens! I can’t wait for you guys to see it!" Kaling gushed. The Netflix comedy, co-created by Mindy, is set to drop its highly-anticipated, second season on July 15.
