Get ready to howl with laughter because a new comedy is coming to Netflix -and we've got a feeling it's only a matter of time until it's the talk of the town! From plotline to who's on board, here's everything you need to know about Michelle Buteau's upcoming series that's sure to have viewers in stitches.

Buteau's new show, titled Survival of the Thickest, is based on the star's book of essays by the same name. And lucky for us, Michelle is not only one of the creators behind the series but also the star. The comedy will follow Mavis Beaumont (Michelle), a Black, plus-size woman who finds herself single for the first time in a while. Viewers will be along for the ride as Mavis builds her life back up and makes the best of it all.

Michelle created the series alongside Danielle Sanchez-Witzel, one of the masterminds behind The Carmichael Show and co-executive producer of New Girl. No big deal. And by that, we mean huge deal. Netflix has ordered eight episodes from the talented duo, so we've got at least one good binge to look forward to. "It's been so damn amazing finding a home with Netflix," Buteau shared. "To say I'm excited to continue my relationship with them is an understatement. I'm over the moon, and I'm under it. Danielle has been a dream partner, and I can't wait to share what we've been cooking up."

And the streaming company is equally excited to be partnered up with the iconic comedian. "Michelle Buteau is many things: a brilliant writer, a gifted stand-up comedian, and an empowering performer," gushed Netflix's Head of Comedy, Tracey Pakosta. "But above all else, she is one of the funniest people alive. Paired with Danielle Sanchez-Witzel - one of TV's sharpest visionaries - Survival of the Thickest will bring Michelle's unique point of view to life." It might come as no surprise that this is far from Buteau's first rodeo with Netflix. The 44-year-old hosts The Circle and previously released a stellar stand-up special titled Michele Buteau: Welcome to Buteaupia.
