Is there a murder in Studio 8H? Doesn't seem like it, but we sure are glad that the Only Murders in the Building costars reunited on Saturday Night Live this past weekend! Here's a look at the hilarious moment.

Steve Martin and Martin Short hosted together, and Brandi Carlile served as the evening’s musical guest, singing her hits The Story and You and Me on the Rock. When Martin and Short took their opening monologues in a different direction, they began the night by reading off their eulogies for one another. Martin looked up at the crowd, then said, “Wow! Not much of a turnout.” The two joked back and forth. Martin quipped, “But I’ll always be haunted by Marty’s last words, ‘Tesla autopilot engage.’” High-energy Short came right back for his friend. He dramatically said, “Oh Steve, it’s so hard to look at you in that open casket, motionless, colorless, stiff – so lifelike.” The crowd roared in laughter as the comedy legends showed off their stuff. Then, when Martin wondered aloud, “Now that Marty is gone, who will I ever work with?” A special guest dropped in! None other than their costar Selena Gomez, who suggested, “How about me?”

Gomez stuck around for another sketch in the episode where she played the wedding singer in a sketch parodying the 1991 film Father of the Bride, in which Martin and Short starred together. Kieran Culkin also reprised his role as the younger brother. Their other sketches from the night include one where they were a mall Santa, and his elf assistant and another where Martin was the Ghost of Christmas Past and Short was Ebenezer Scrooge, and trouble ensues when Scrooge accidentally blinds an orphan when handing out coins. This isn’t the first time Martin Short and Steve Martin have hosted the comedy sketch show together. The first time they actually met each other was on the set of Saturday Night Live when they hosted alongside Chevy Chase to promote their new film Three Amigos! in 1986. Since that fateful meeting and project together, the duo has been inseparable. Last season, Steve Martin made an appearance when Selena Gomez hosted NBC’s SNL for the first time.

Saturday Night Live is set to return on December 17 with Austin Butler hosting and Lizzo as the musical guest. Until then, we’ll be rewatching Steve Martin and Martin Short to fill the void. Stay tuned.
