Meryl Streep, her co-stars, and the whole planet are ready for a third film in the Mamma Mia! cinematic universe. In an oral history to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the 2008 film, the cast, crew, and creatives revealed to Vogue their hope for a return to the Isles of Greece in a third installment of the classic movies.

Even though Meryl's character Donna didn't appear in Mamma Mia!: Here We Go Again, the actress revealed she is "up for anything." Despite popular belief she didn't appear in the sequel due to scheduling conflicts, Meryl reportedly turned down involvement to make way for younger actors. And so, Lily James portrayed a younger version of Donna in 2018. However, that didn't stop Donna's Dynamos and former flames from reappearance. Christine Baranski and Julie Walters returned as Tanya and Rosie, and, unsurprisingly, one of the legendary actresses is unopposed to the idea of a trilogy. Christine told Vogue, "If there's an idea that excites me, I'm totally there."

It's not just the older gang that would like to return to the fictional island of Kalokairi in Greece; Amanda Seyfried is as much a fan of the films as we are. She said, "I dare you to show me one person who doesn't want a third Mamma Mia!" As for Donna's three former lovers, played by Colin Firth, Pierce Brosnan, and Stellan Skarsgård, they will take even less convincing. Colin said, "I'd be there like a shot for all of the reasons I've given about the joys of making the first two films." Pierce has his suitcase packed for another trip, revealing, "Judy knows where to find me if they wanna have a third go around… We'd all do it in a heartbeat." And, in Stellan fashion, he joked, "I will be in an urn by the time there's a script for Mamma Mia! 3, but I will gladly participate as a pile of ashes."

Producer and diehard ABBA fan Judy Craymer revealed to Vogue there is a lot of room for an additional prequel between the end of Here We Go Again and the start of the original film. She said, "We went back and forth in time with the second one, so now we have the creative license to explore this world further." Here's hoping they make it work!
