Calling all Sex and the City fans for this incredible news! Kim Cattrall is set to reprise her role as the absolutely iconic Samantha Jones in And Just Like That. Here's all the scoop we have.
Cattrall will be returning to the Max revival of the HBO hit series Sex and the City for the season two finale. According to Variety's sources, the actress will only be appearing in one scene. She recorded her dialogue on March 22 in New York City. The scene will involve a phone conversation between Jones and Carrie Bradshaw, famously portrayed by Sarah Jessica Parker. During And Just Like That season one, Jones moved to London and had an estranged relationship with Bradshaw. Her character's only "appearance" was through text message, and the two characters planned to meet up to try and reconcile. Cattrall wasn't the only familiar face who was making a return to the series. The original costume designer, Patricia Field, who has not been involved in the new revival series, was on set to dress Cattrall for her return to the silver screen.
The exciting news is a welcomed surprise for many fans who thought they would never see Cattrall back on the screen as Samantha Jones. The actress was public about not wanting to return for the potential third movie of Sex and the City. She told Variety that after wrapping up filming on the second movie, "Everything in me went, 'I'm done.'" According to Cattrall, she was never asked to be part of the Max series reboot and found out about it like everybody else – on social media. Her refusal to return caused a rift with her former costar, Sarah Jessica Parker. So much so that neither SJP nor showrunner Michael Patrick King were on set when Cattrall filmed her scene, per Variety. In the meantime, Cattrall has been keeping busy. She's appeared on How I Met Your Father and came out with a new movie titled About My Father with Robert De Niro and Sebastian Maniscalco.
