It's certainly been a while since the iconic sitcom Frasier graced our TV screens, but Kelsey Grammar announced that he's getting ready to create a series reboot. Grammer's been speaking about the possibility of reviving his role as Dr. Frasier Crane for a few years, and he's proud to confirm that it is officially in the works with ViacomCBS and will be available for streaming on Paramount Plus.
"The revival will have everything you love about the original: coziness, great writing, and of course, a cast led by Kelsey Grammer," as said by the streaming service. Grammer will both executive produce and star in the reboot, along with Tom Russo and Jordan McMahon, who will also be producing the series. Paramount Plus has yet to reveal any of the cast members, aside from Grammer.
"Frasier is one of the most acclaimed comedies in modern television history and truly defines premium storytelling," said President of CBS Studios, David Stapf. "There has been a call from fans for its return, and that call is now answered thanks to the amazing Kelsey Grammer reprising his role of Dr. Frasier Crane and a brilliant creative plan from Joe, Chris, and Kelsey."
"We can't wait to reveal its next chapter on Paramount+," Stapf continued. Frasier first aired in 1993 and lasted 11 seasons total, with sky-high ratings throughout. The original cast included Jane Leeves, David Hyde Pierce, Peri Gilpin, and other famous faces, and we can't wait to see who'll be appearing in the reboot! "Having spent over 20 years of my creative life on the Paramount lot, both producing shows and performing in several, I'd like to congratulate Paramount+ on its entry into the streaming world," said Grammer.
"I gleefully anticipate sharing the next chapter in the continuing journey of Dr. Frasier Crane." At the moment, Grammer is working on an ABC comedy, so filming for the reboot of Frasier likely won't begin this year. However, the crew is ready to get to work as soon as possible, so get ready for more laughs from an exciting new cast in the future!
