And one part that really stood out was Kelly Ripa's impressive imitation of Tammy Faye Bakker from Jessica Chastain's The Eyes of Tammy Faye. Here's what to know.
The show's official Instagram account uploaded a clip showing Kelly Ripa's amazing transformation. Thanks to an interview with Entertainment Tonight's Rachel Smith, we got to hear all about the sketch from Kelly Ripa herself. But according to the talk show host, it was her stylist who deserved all the praise. "It really was Kristofer Buckle's makeup," Ripa said of her close friend, who used his makeup expertise to create her Tammy Faye look. "I cannot take credit."
The 51-year-old actress and television producer also added, "And then, I wasn't impersonating Tammy Faye. I was impersonating Jessica Chastain as Tammy Faye. So that was my [method]." But as humble as her claims are, we certainly think she deserves an Oscar herself for her talented impression! When she was asked about whether she had received a response or any feedback from Chastain on her performance, Ripa joked, "Of course, obviously, yes, [she] reach out to me. I believe she said my performance is a hate crime... but maybe I misheard that on my answering machine."
