Jennifer Garner is switching things up, but maybe not in the way that you'd expect. The actress is heading back to her comedy roots for her upcoming flick, Family Switch. We have all the deets on the movie, including nods to her movie 13 Going on 30.
Director McG, whose real name is Joseph McGinty Nichol, spoke with Entertainment Weekly about the mentions of the famous body-switching movie Garner previously starred in. He said, "We overtly mention 13 Going on 30. There's a meta sort of runner in the movie because I like showing the audience that kind of respect. We get it, we get it." McG is also behind the iconic Charlie's Angels movies starring Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz, and Lucy Liu. This new flick may not be about three spies fighting crime, but it still is a fun adventure in its own right. This time, Garner's character, Jess Walker, finds herself waking up in the body of her teenage daughter, CC, played by Wednesday actress Emma Myers. Except it is not just Garner and Myers who find themselves switching bodies.
The entire family has switched bodies! Bill Walker, the husband of Jess and portrayed by Ed Helms, switches bodies with his teenage son, Wyatt, played by Brady Noon. Even the baby swaps bodies with the family's dog in a hilarious series of unfortunate events. This happens after a chance encounter with an astrological reader, played by Rita Moreno, that the family bumps into at the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles. The switch happens on the most important day of each member's life, and they must figure out a way to get through these monumental events and switch back to their original bodies. The movie is based on the children's book Bedtime for Mommy, written by the late Amy Krouse Rosenthal. This feel-good comedy comes right in time for the holiday season, arriving on Netflix on November 30. So, get your cups of hot cocoa, the whole family, and sit down for what will surely be a fun film for everyone.
