Jamie Foxx's new film, Project Power, has officially been released on Netflix, and we've got the inside scoop for you! For starters, Foxx was extremely excited to finally get the chance to play a superhero in a galaxy far, far away.
In the film, criminals can take a particular pill that gives them superpowers for a short five minutes. Before signing onto the production, Jamie needed to check on a few elements that he feels are essential. "Before it becomes supernatural, it has to have the natural."
"When I look at Star Wars, which to me is a case study of movies, the reason that Star Wars was great is not because of the lightsabers," explained Foxx. "It's because of Luke Skywalker. It was because of Han Solo... that you, even if they were ordering food, it would still be interesting."
Project Power is unlike any of Jamie's previous productions, but he's made it clear that he's never afraid of a challenge. His ability to try out different genres and character types makes him stand out among other actors and screenwriters; He truly has no limits.
Jamie co-stars in Project Power with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who plays Frank, a local cop, and Dominique Fishback, playing Robin, an aspiring rapper. "What really excited me was the fact that Jamie Foxx and Joseph Gordon-Levitt were attached," explained Fishback. "Then, when I read the script I was thoroughly impressed with Mattson Tomlin, the writer."
"Our eyes are open to how the distribution of power can be used in the worst way possible, and can really fracture what we've built," Jamie told Yahoo Entertainment. Just like Foxx stands by everything he says, so does his character, The Major, and we love the authenticity of that.
