Ever since we learned a How I Met Your Mother sequel was coming our way, we've been squirming to find out who will be coming to our screens for the beloved sitcom's spin-off. Now, we've finally got some answers.
In case you somehow missed it, the highly-anticipated sequel is set to feature Hilary Duff as protagonist Sophie, a young woman navigating the dating world. Promising Young Woman's Chris Lowell was also previously announced as a series cast member. The actor will star as Jesse, an Uber driver, and aspiring musician.
So who else will fill the shoes left behind by the original HIMYM cast? (No pressure, right?) How I Met Your Father announced on August 10th that grown-ish's Francia Raisa, The Royals' Tom Ainsley, God Friended Me's Suraj Sharma, and Candyman's Tien Tran will be joining Duff and Lowell.
While Sophie (Hilary Duff) details to her son how she met his father, the rest of the cast will play her friends and family. Francia Raisa will take on Valentina's role as Sophie's roommate. "She's impulsive and adventurous and Sophie relies on Valentina's ability to cheer her up when she gets down," the show revealed. "Valentine has just come back from London Fashion Week with the gorgeous British Charlie."
British Charlie, who is "the son of conservative aristocrats... a great guy but he's been living in a rich person's bubble his whole life," will be played by Tom Ainsley. Tien Tran will star as Jesse's (Chris Lowell) sister, "who just moved to New York from a small farming town after separating from her wife." The character is apparently "more comfortable on an organic lettuce field than in a Brooklyn dive bar."
And lastly, Suraj Sharma joins as Sid, "a new bar owner [who] plays the optimist to Jesse's cynicism." We don't know about you, but we love it already. Here's to hoping for a sweet cameo from Neil Patrick Harris or any of the other legendary cast members...
