Yesterday, Dancing With the Stars revealed its Season 29 cast, including Tiger King star, Carole Baskin. Thankfully, we didn't have to wait very long for the big news to be confirmed by the cat-lover herself. Baskin appeared on Good Morning America and explained why she is joining the DWTS cast.
The Tiger King star said her life has "been a nightmare since Tiger King aired." She went on to say the hit Netflix show "glamorized animal abusers and villainized me for trying to stop animal abuse... I felt betrayed by that. But what amazed me was how many people believed that false portrayal of me without doing anything to find out who I really am."
Carol explained how she hopes starring in DWTS will help bring a positive impact. "The biggest thing for me is that the longer my partner and I stay in the running... it will keep the cats forefront in the viewers' eye... And to me, that was where Tiger King missed the ball. It really should have been focused on the animals. And so, I'm hoping Dancing With the Stars will do that."
When asked if the other competitors (below) should be concerned that Baskin will be a "tenacious" competitor, she responded "I am competitive, but I'm competitive with myself. I want to do the very best that I can possibly do."
We're excited to see Carol is already practicing her best moves. Will this season of Dancing With the Stars bring some ferocious dancing? We can't wait to see the feline-lover show us what she's got!
