George Lopez is taking us for a hilarious holiday ride this winter. Lionsgate just dropped the official trailer for their latest family comedy, How the Gringo Stole Christmas. Here's all the festive fun you can expect.
In the hilarious film, George Lopez plays a Mexican dad named Bennie who discovers that his daughter, Gabbie (played by Mariana Treviño), is dating a white American guy. The family's Christmas celebrations go from merry to messy real quick when Gabbie's boyfriend shows up to the party uninvited. The trailer gives us a sneak peek at all the hilarity that ensues when different cultures collide. And let's just say things get a little awkward after that - and that's where the comedy begins!
The film, directed by Angel Gracia, also stars Mayans MC's Emily Tosta and Jack Kilmer from The Nice Guys. Gracia kicked off his career by winning MTV's video contest for Madonna's 1986 hit single True Blue. That victory led to him winning an Emmy. More than ten years ago, the director made his mark with the 2011 film From Prada To Nada, featuring Camilla Belle and Aleca PenaVega. The romantic comedy was a Latina spin on Jane Austen's 1811 novel Sense and Sensibility. Fast forward to today, Gracia has collaborated on global campaigns with stars like Penelope Cruz, Eugenio Derbez, Val Kilmer, and Julianne Moore. Judging by his journey from music videos to an Emmy and now working with A-list talent, this guys' built quite an impressive career in the entertainment world.
And it looks like How the Gringo Stole Christmas won't be any different. The best part is that it's filled with all the comedic chaos and holiday traditions you could possibly want in a Christmas flick. After all, when has George Lopez ever failed to deliver funny moments and witty one-liners in between heartwarming scenes? Perfect way to capture the spirit of the season, if you ask us. And in the words of George Lopez himself, "This is one holiday you won't forget!" How the Gringo Stole Christmas will be in theaters on December 1, 2023. Be sure not to miss it!
