With the phenomenal worldwide success of The Big Bang Theory, it comes as no surprise that its prequel series, Young Sheldon, is storming its way into its sixth season. Since its debut in 2017, fans of the original show have passionately tuned in week after week to follow the life of a young Sheldon Cooper. Slightly less-cynical yet just as overconfident as the character made famous by Jim Parsons, Iain Armitage has shown Sheldon in a new light, demonstrating how his upbringing and childhood turned him into the man we grew to love. First and foremost, season six will premiere on CBS on September 29. While no announcement has been made regarding the number of episodes we will be receiving, based on the previous season lengths, we can assume it will be around 18-22 episodes long. Anyone wanting to catch the show on a streaming site will be able to access it through a Paramount+ subscription.
Regarding the cast, we can confirm that the entire cast will be returning. That includes Iain Armitage as Sheldon, Zoe Perry as Mary, Lance Barber as George Sr., Montana Jordan as Georgie, Raegan Revord as Missy, Annie Potts as Meemaw, and of course, Jim Parsons as the narrating voice of Sheldon. A particularly exciting update is that Emily Osment, who appeared in the fifth season as Mandy McAllister, will be returning as a series regular. As the older love interest of Georgie Cooper, who falls pregnant with his child, her addition promises to add plenty of laughs.
At the end of season five, fans watched with glee as a young Sheldon put on his iconic Flash graphic tee for the very first time. The shirt, which became a staple feature of adult Sheldon's life, will continue to feature this as he experiments through his teenage years. Thankfully, we can be confident that Young Sheldon will continue beyond season six as CBS reportedly picked up the show for three more seasons back in 2021.
