The latest comedy-horror series has officially arrived, and we're here to break it down for you! For starters, Courteney Cox makes her way back into acting for Starz's latest series, Shining Vale, proving to us she is the horror/comedy queen we never knew we needed. So, let's jump right in.
Shining Vale follows the story of Pat (Courteney Cox), her husband Terry (Greg Kinnear), and their children, played by Gus Birney and Dylan Gage. They leave Brooklyn for the suburbia life in Connecticut after Cox has an affair with the handyman. The family finds a deal on an old house, perfect for fresh beginnings. But when Cox sees the ghost of a 1950's housewife played by Mira Sorvino, things start to get interesting. Cox tries to convince her family there is a spiritual presence, but immediately the family doesn't believe her. Nonetheless, several hilarious one-liners are thrown into the mix while Cox covers some serious topics. "I love the comedy of it. I just love everything about this show: I love the sparring between me and Greg, and I love that it's a half-hour – that's just right up my alley," Cox gushed.

Co-creators Sharon Horgan and former Friends writer Jeff Astrof band together to make Shining Value. So, where did the idea stem from? Sharon had the idea of wanting to produce something "really scary" but also wanting to have a comedic factor to it. And in response, Astroff said, "Yes, because every time you go to a horror movie, after you scream, you laugh." True. Astroff continued, "I've been doing this long enough [that] I'm always looking for fresh ways to tell jokes." Ah, now we get it! Naturally, Twitter had a lot to say about this one, from the good to the bad and the ugly. One user tweeted, "This Show is hilarious," while another wrote, "I hope it improves. Courtney's character - the one seeing ghosts - is the only normal one! The rest of her family is a nightmare!"
