Awards season is still well underway - and this time, the people have spoken. The long-awaited People's Choice Awards is right around the corner, and it's bound to be one for the books. From the funniest comedians to LOL-worthy flicks, have a look at which of your favorite binges made it on this year's list...
Up first, let's talk comedies: The Comedy Movie of 2021 award is stacked with lots of familiar classics. From Coming 2 America to He's All That, it's going to be hard crowning just one winner. Other hilarious titles that made it to the list include Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard, Jungle Cruise, Space Jam: A New Legacy, Thunder Force, Vacation Friends, and Free Guy.
But while we can't get enough of those comedic gems, let's not forget the famous faces who made them possible. Up next, we're paying tribute to the Comedy Movie Star of 2021: Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt for their roles in Jungle Cruise, Eddie Murphy and Leslie Jones in Coming 2 America, Melissa McCarthy and Octavia Spencer in Thunder Force, Ryan Reynolds in Free Guy, and Salma Hayek in Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard.
That was a mouthful, we know. But we're not done just yet. These hilarious series have all earned a (well deserved) spot on this year's Comedy Show of 2021: Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Grown-ish, Never Have I Ever, Only Murders in the Building, Saturday Night Live, Ted Lasso, The Upshaws, and Young Rock.
Speaking of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Andy Samberg's time taking bad guys off the streets (well, at least trying to) actually landed him a spot in our following awards category: The Comedy TV Star of 2021. Joining him in the coveted slots are Dwayne Johnson in Young Rock, Jason Sudeikis in Ted Lasso, Kenan Thompson in Saturday Night Live, Selena Gomez, and Steve Martin in Only Murders in the Building, Wanda Sykes in The Upshaws, and Yara Shahidi in Grown-ish.
Saving perhaps the best (?) for last, The Comedy Act of 2021 will pay tribute to some of Netflix's hottest specials to hit. Nominations include Bo Burnham: Inside and You Know What It Is. Don't forget to tune in on December 7 to see which stars raked in the most laughs this year.
