Get the popcorn ready and make sure to cancel those Saturday night plans because Netflix has just announced its next comedy series. Oh, and did we mention it'll be starring an actress we already know and love? Here's what we know so far...
Titled, Pretty Smart, the comedy is set to hit the platform on October 8th and offers a fun sit-com from the writers of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and How I Met Your Mother. And for sentimental millennials looking for a walk down memory lane? The show also features the talents of former Disney star, Emily Osment. Emily, who is now 29 years old, has since moved on to more sophisticated comedy content, including The Kominsky Method and Mom. But after years of supporting roles, the Los Angeles native has decided to take a stab at co-starring alongside Olivia Macklin.
The cast also includes the likes of Cinthya Carmona, Michael Hsu Rosen, and Gregg Sulkin. The young actors will portray a bubbly and energetic group of roommates living in Los Angeles: a pair of sisters, Claire and Chelsea (played by Olivia and Emily), reunite when the latter ditches her academic life and relocates to LA. The self-proclaimed bookworm experiences some bumps along the way, as she struggles to fit in with a seemingly superficial crowd of Hollywooders. But luckily, in due time, they find their groove and even a spark of romance along the way.
After enough time in the city of angels, Chelsea finds herself with a "crush" on her new roommate, offering a funny and heartfelt plotline for viewers of the upcoming show. And for Osment, she couldn't be more proud to have worked with this talented group of actors and actresses. "These people," the sit-com veteran captioned on one of her many posts with her Pretty Smart co-stars.
From the entertaining plot to the cast's undeniable chemistry, consider our calendars marked! Until then, be sure to check back in for more news from the never-ending world of comedy.
